Lord Murugan is specially worshipped at Tiruttani, Tiruparankundram, Palani, and all six Aarupadai Veedu temples with lamp-lighting and abhishekam; considered the most sacred of the six annual Krithigai observances because Aadi Krithigai marks the period when Murugan accepted his Vel from Goddess Parvati.
